CheerABILITIES

UA Platinum2.jpg

Unity Allstars Platinum is Unity’s newest team offering sessions to children with additional needs and learning disabilities. Athletes who attend the sessions will learn all aspects of cheerleading, and we look forward to giving these athletes the opportunities to perform at local events and regional competitions.

The aim of Unity Allstars Platinum is to create an environment where children can develop their skills, feel safe and really feel like they belong somewhere as part of a team! It also gives parents a chance to meet other parents of children with additional needs.

Classes will be run by Chloe Redmonds, an experienced SEN cheer coach with 8 years behind her running a SEN Cheer programme within our local community (Surrey Twisters Sunshine). Chloe and some additional Unity volunteers will work with these athletes to ensure that they enjoy fun and safe classes.

Another strand to the Unity programme is Unity Allstars Gold. We are England’s first ever competitive Special Abilities cheerleading squad for young people with a range of learning, sensory and physical disabilities in the Peterborough area. Set up and coached by Sarah Bedford and Amee Garala, who was previously a member of the first Unity AllStars team, Amee has since pursued her dream of providing the opportunity to cheerlead for these talented individuals. To see the faces of these young people achieve and build their self confidence is just incredible.

Unity Allstars Gold (previously known as Unity Superstars) are really are leading the way for special abilities teams across the UK. They have been in existence now for five years and in that time have celebrated many successes. They have performed at local events, including the London 2012 Olympic torch relay at Wansford, as well as having competed at ICC and Future Cheer competitions, both at a regional and national level.

The team also represented the UK at the very prestigious USASF Cheerleading Worlds Championships in Florida, USA in 2010. Not only did many dreams come true in America, many were created which is what Gold are all about: striving for excellence and being the best we can.

The coaching staff inspire, challenge and believe in these talented athletes and are always looking to welcome new members.

We train every Tuesday 6.30-7.30pm at Heltwate School, Heltwate, North Bretton, Peterborough, PE3 8RL.  For further information or if you have any questions please email amee@unityallstars.com
